FOREIGN CURRENCY : WHY CHARITY IN INDIA?

CURB FCRA:

Two years before this question was raised. Why does India need Charity?

There was a time when the Government of India and the states did not have administrative reach to the far-flung areas of the country. Most of the administrators, till the turn of the century acted more Great Sahibs than the British, in these areas. People faced a hostile administrative system for over thirty years opening up inroads for the brisk business of Voluntary organisations which later became NGOs. Somewhere in the 1980s the concept of Extension of Administrative reach through NGOs were suggested to be included as a national policy.

It did not bring any great changes in the country, instead in several regions it fuelled antagonistic sentiments in the helpless and inarticulate rural people, creating conflict situations leading to armed extreme activities.

The situations in these regions became conducive for the spread of religious activities encashing on the Caste based conflicts. Now, after 60 years, the Government of India has again initiated caste-based census, the vita data would be of great strategic importance .

In the 1950s to modernize agricultural practices, to enhance crop yield and to extend agriculture to other areas, American foundations were invited by the first government of free India. The disaster of the huge volume of caste based data gathered by these agencies from the remote regions did not get into the nerves of New Delhi for a decade. Finally a random eviction had ;ed to diplomatic grumbles between White House and No. Safdarjung Road.

The net result was a mushroom growth of NGOs and Church based Organisations spreading across the entire interiors of central and eastern India. Every conflict was picturised and used in the US and Europe citing atrocities against minorities in India, drawing huge funds. The Church planting Industry in India took shape. The pressure factors led to the creation of new Youth Organisations in the country, breeding the Conflict.

Foreign Currency reached India for different reasons in the name of Charity. Charity.

The situation changed after 2014. Roads and extension of infrastructure reached the most remote areas and even the borders.

IT is the time to completely ban Charity work in India. Otherwise, the amounts accrued by the organisations has to be adjusted in the project implementation components of the non governmental spending in the Union budget. Diversion of such funds for other organizations and for the own benefit of the drawing and implementing agencies are mandatory. Trail of the money should be visible, and has to be made free from the tallies of accounting and audits. The Luxury of Charity has to come to an end.

If any religious body has any doubt that can go through the Draft report on the " Atrocities on Minorities in Rajasthan " lying with CBCI New Delhi. The enquiry was done at the behest of CBCI, Churches of North India and the Evangelical Society of India.

Why Charity in India?

0n 9th of March 2024

Famines in India were created by the Europeans who introduced captive farming. The Industrial Revolution was looming high in Europe. Rulers of India were busy in making Forts and mausoleums. Conquests and invasions were never ending. Rise and fall of dynasties continued.

Voyages to India were for the know-how of Dyes, metallurgy, textiles, Food processing, Dairying , wood crafts, Sugar and medicines were the main know-how from the raw materials from here; their mechanisation led to bulk production that required packing materials. Besides, cash crops for their requirements were grown on a large scale. Bengal, Bihar, Orissa and parts of eastern UP came under the Jute and Cash crop cultivation. Potatoes, Chilli, coffee and cashew were introduced in India. In less than a few decades by the mid-18th century, Paddy cultivation was almost run over by the cash crops and Jute plantations. The Great Famine was an invited disaster.

The situation was the same as that of 1964- 65 and 1984-85. Famine demands a requirement for labour and people would tend to migrate. Much of the people trusted the Agents of the Europeans and Indians became an alternative labour force to be exported to the Caribbean islands. Haldia, Chittagong and Vedaranyam were the major ports of manpower export.

The inroads into India were made and the ground was set for the first Carnatic War and the Battle of Plassey. A very careful strategy was planned for nearly a century in the Carnatic by the European powers. Sir Thomas Roe as the Ambassador of the Crown was instrumental in getting permission to set up Industries in India. This gave East India company a ground to see their base in India. Anchoring of Hector, the ship of the East India Company on 24 August 1608 at Surat brought in the dynamism of William Hawkins. Though he was not an official envoy of King James l, his methods were well calculated. However, the Portuguese presence and the small conflict was only a beginning. He reached Agra in April 1609. As the envoy of the British King, he carried an official letter in Spanish. Though Hawkins was fluent in Turkish language, and Humayun well conversant, did not trust and called Jesuit Cleric Jeronimo Xavier to translate! The drama that took place in the court of Humayun remains as an untold story, or a narrative still missing in the history of Catholicism in India. Hawkins was much into the reformation which Agra was not aware of and exchange of words with Xavier was damaging. In return Xavier was smart to point at the salutation of King James which did in no way was suiting the emperor. Naval conflicts with the Portuguese further led to tensions and gave Hawkins a space to Hawkins. walking off with a huge Manzabdari . Further his loyalty to Jehangir led the Portuguese to boycott Mughal Ports. The sudden drift in the trade made traders of Gujarat turn aggressive.

The Jesuit missionaries took control over the situation and Jehangir had a great appreciation, allowing his nephews to be baptized. The missionaries requested for a celebration at par with what was accorded for an Armenian Convert to Islam. But they were taken by surprise and were in dismay when Jehangir asked them to follow the way of Jesus by taking a ride on Donkey. After much persuasion, Jehangir Agreed the Missionaries to go ahead with a ride of his converted nephews on elephants. On 05 September 1610 three Nephews of the Mughal Emperor were Baptised.

Jehangir played the religious card to take control over the Europeans and bring them under his complete control. Baptism became the policy of the state , and this made the English to act in a Secular manner with equal status to Banias, Muslims and the Europeans. However, the secularist stature did not last long as the three Princes went back to Islam.

A beginning was made by the East India Company to have enough intelligence inputs to undermine the Mughal Empire and to await it's downfall in a systematic manner. From the peninsular India and east coast , ground clearance was made in the next 150 years.

Famine brings in poverty, and poverty creates Avenue for Charity.

Undoing Charity in India will mark the beginning of Prosperous and healthy country.
